Kovalam
Kerala's most celebrated beach — where the Arabian Sea meets the cliff
Kerala's Premier Beach Resort
Three Beaches, One Extraordinary Coast
Kovalam has been Kerala's most celebrated beach destination since the 1970s, when it first attracted international travellers seeking an alternative to the crowded beaches of Goa. Three crescent-shaped beaches — Lighthouse, Hawa, and Samudra — each with a distinct character, are separated by rocky headlands that create natural privacy.
The iconic red-and-white lighthouse that crowns the southern headland has become Kerala's most recognisable coastal landmark. Climb it at sunset for panoramic views of the Arabian Sea stretching to the horizon.
LX Tours arranges stays at Kovalam's finest clifftop resorts — properties with private beach access, world-class Ayurveda centres, and exceptional seafood restaurants. Trivandrum Airport is just 16 km away, making Kovalam one of Kerala's most accessible luxury destinations.

Kovalam FAQs
When is the best time to visit Kovalam?
October to March is ideal — calm seas, sunny skies, and perfect beach weather. The sea is rough during monsoon (June–September), but the dramatic waves and lush greenery have their own appeal.
How far is Kovalam from Trivandrum Airport?
Kovalam is just 16 km from Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) International Airport — about 30–40 minutes by road. It's one of Kerala's most accessible beach destinations.
Is Kovalam safe for swimming?
Lighthouse Beach has lifeguards and is generally safe for swimming in the calm season (October–March). Hawa Beach can have stronger currents. We advise guests on current conditions during their stay.
Can I combine Kovalam with Alleppey or Munnar?
Absolutely. Kovalam–Alleppey–Munnar is Kerala's classic triangle — beach, backwaters, and hills. We design seamless 8–12 day itineraries combining all three with private transfers.
